Terms of Service

Draft, pending review. This page is not final and may change before Huckle launches.

Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and Stateshift LLC ("we", "us") for using the Huckle app. By using Huckle you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

What Huckle is

Huckle is a relationship advice app. In it you talk and text with a huckle, a fox character run by AI. Her friends call her Silvertail, or another name depending on which huckle you meet, and you can give her a name of your own. She is an AI, not a person. Her life, her friends and her stories are fiction.

Huckle is not medical care, therapy or a crisis service, and nothing she says is medical, legal or financial advice. If you might be in danger, call or text 988 in the US, call 911, or call your local emergency number.

Who can use Huckle

You must be 18 or older to use Huckle. Accounts are personal; please don't share yours.

Your account

Huckle creates an account for you when you first open it. You can add an email address or Sign in with Apple to keep your account if you change phones. Huckle and Stateshift share one account system, so the same email is the same account in both apps, and deleting it deletes both.

What's free and what's in a membership

Getting started is free: the Elder Huckle asks you five questions, answers each one and picks the young huckle who suits you. If many people are using Huckle at once, her spoken answers may switch to text. Talking and texting with your huckle needs a membership. There is no free conversation.

Membership includes all practices, up to 500 messages a day, 2 hours of talk each month counted from your renewal date, and up to an hour a day of speaking your messages instead of typing. Huckle tells you when talk time is nearly up, and a conversation isn't cut off mid-way. Conversations during a crisis don't use your talk time. The 3-day free trial, offered with the yearly and quarterly plans, includes 30 minutes of talk.

Huckle Plus includes everything in membership, with 5 hours of talk each month instead of 2, and deeper thinking behind every reply: a more capable AI model writes her text replies, up to 100 a day, and does her behind-the-scenes thinking in calls. The same rules apply, including 30 minutes of talk during the 3-day free trial for new members. Apple decides when a plan change starts: an upgrade starts straight away with a new billing period and a full month of talk; a downgrade starts at your next renewal, and you keep Plus until then.

If you buy extra talk time, it is used after your monthly talk time runs out and doesn't expire. If Apple refunds it, any minutes you haven't used are removed.

Apple processes payment. Memberships renew automatically until you cancel in your Apple account settings, at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Refunds are handled by Apple. We may change allowances or prices in the future; we will tell you before a change affects a membership you already have.

Using Huckle well

Please use Huckle lawfully and kindly. Don't try to break, overload or reverse engineer the service, get around its limits, or use it to create harmful content. Your huckle is friendly company, not romance: she won't flirt, take part in sexual roleplay or write sexual content, though she will talk frankly about sex as part of relationships.

Your content and what she remembers

What you say, write and send to Huckle stays yours. You let us process it to run the service as described in our privacy policy. Your huckle keeps short notes about you so she can remember your story. Memory is on by default; you can switch it to Ask first or Off, and see, change or delete her notes at any time.

Our content

Huckle, the huckles and their world, the practices and the app belong to Stateshift LLC or our licensors. You may not copy or redistribute them without permission.

No warranties

Huckle is provided as is. AI can be wrong, misunderstand you, misread a screenshot or say something unhelpful. We don't promise that Huckle will be available, accurate or suitable for any particular purpose.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of Huckle, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending your use

You can stop using Huckle and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado. Disputes will be resolved by binding arbitration in Boulder, Colorado, except where the law does not allow it or in small claims court. Where local law gives you stronger rights, those rights apply.

Changes to these terms

If we change these terms we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
